ID Generator Field reset 1 for every month change

Hi. Do you know how can I reset the running number to 1 for every month change?
I saw some had asked the same question which tries to put this in an environment variable. Example, ref/#date.MM/yyyy#. But it not allow '# or /' for ID. So is there a way to do that, or do I need to create a plugin for that?
