Additional question on multi page form example

Simple Employee Management v1: HrView is referenced as a good example of multi part form use - which indeed it is. However, for each page in the multi part form element there is a field "Parent Form Field to Keep Child Form ID." And, in this example app, for every page of the element parameters this field is empty, even though a red asterisk shows it as required. Furthermore, If I try to ok the element it complains because of these required fields. Yet, if I just cancel it still runs fine. Please explain.
