i want a date filter on the report view at the top without using group by filter

i want a date filter on the report view at the top without using group by filter 
so i can be generate report on week wise, month wise ,year wise

Why not use the Date Range Filter type?

Drag and drop a column with dates to the filter > edit properties > Type = Date Range

I had given group  by properties to generate report but when i add date filter in group then it mess with other fields

add date filter range but remove the group by properties? I'm assuming its the datalist builder > builder properties > group by. Think there's a 'X' button on the select box to remove whatever you choose to remove it.
