what kind of hash variables are you using?
Sometimes the hash variables are shown as a string when there is no data record found for the hash variable.
For example: #form.example_table.exampleField[100]#
If id 100 doesn't exist in the table, the hash variable string "#form.example_table.exampleField[100]#" will show up in the email.
