Insufficient Java VM Memory

Hii,
Insufficient Java VM Memory warning pops up. Initially the Memory was around 756MB so i Increased it to 4096 to make sure that everthing runs smoothly But aftersome time the memory keeps increasing and reached the limit what am i missing Should i increase it again or anything else i need to configure my PROD environment so whats Optimal memory i should use.
