help for Absolute begineer

Hello Experts ,
I am very new to joget and world of Java and wanted to understand it better to develop web based database oriented application , being a sql server database developer , i have a database structure created in sql server, for now wanted to do a POC on HR portal , i was able to design forms understand process and flow but was unable to link them with database and tables ,writting a query to fetch data and link with forms etc ...then i felt i am missing some document / video that could describe me step by step to develop such application (specially database related interaction).
Could you please help me in this regard.
