I have followed the suggested steps but when I run service.bat install I get this error.

Run service.bat install service_name Tomcat8JogetDX.

I am trying to switch from a manually started Joget using the entry on the Start button list to a fully automated start on reboot. Your suggestion seems to start Joget but not the MariaDB upon reboot. Do I need to also separately make that a service. If so how? The instructions seemed to imply this would do both. Thanks!

Towards the end of the same artilcle.

After you have successfully added Tomcat as a service, you may also want to add MySQL as a service and make Tomcat dependent on MySQL as well.

Adding MySQL service as a Dependency to Tomcat service

The MariaDB/MySQL needs to be a service on its own too.
