Hope you can help.

I need to populate a workflow variable from a database return value.

I am using an "tool" step to do this.

What is the best way of achieving this?

In your Tool, map to Beanshell plugin. Then use the code from Setting Workflow Variable Value in Process Tool Bean Shell
