What is the exact difference of the properties "Join Type" XOR ; AND

I don't really understand what will happen if I decide to use AND or XOR for the tool: "Email on rapport nombre calculés complétés" For  this exemple there is two out arrows

and what will happen with the other tool: "update Record Status"  since there is two In arrows

Hi, AND means both must happen while XOR means either-or will do. In this case, if the Update Record Status has an incoming XOR join then it should proceed as long as one of the transitions happen.
