JSON web services authentication

Greetings - has anyone leverage the JSON tool to connect to web services where the user would need to authenticate and retreive a token?

I am working with Quickbooks online where you would need to login and create a token to be used in the JSON tool to make the calls.

what are some of the approach in solution's for this, other than use an external app to perform the process.
