  5. Log in to Joget using HTTPS and assign a new task to a specific user, such as Admin or another one.

    Note

After completing the steps, expect to receive a notification on your mobile Chrome browser indicating a new Joget notification.
  6. Click on the notification to open the Joget app in your mobile Chrome browser, where you can view the task.
    Note
Logging in as 'admin' is only an example; feel free to use any username. Additionally, you only need to utilize each app's default User Notification plugin to enable PWA notifications.

Best Practices for updates

If you maintain apps that rely on mobile features, we recommend testing the following after updating:

  • File, image, and camera uploads in your forms, including video capture.
  • Selecting files from Google Drive or other cloud storage.
  • Downloading attachments, with Download as attachment both enabled and disabled.
  • Downloading any documents generated by your forms, such as PDFs.
  • Location or map fields, if your apps use them.
  • Menu links configured to open in a new window.
  • Push notifications.

Fixes and improvements

iOS

  • Attachments now download to the device, and the "Download as Attachment" setting is respected.
Files attached to a record were always played or displayed inside the app, regardless of whether the "Download as attachment" property was enabled on the form field, so users had no way to save a document or video. The app now uses Apple’s native download support on iOS 14.5 and later. With Download as attachment enabled, the file is saved to the device; with it disabled, the file opens in a preview, matching the behaviour on Android and in a browser. A short "Downloading…" message appears while the transfer runs, followed by a confirmation offering to open the file or dismiss the message.
  • Documents generated inside a form now download rather than opening in preview mode.
When a PDF was produced by the form itself, a generated certificate, for example tapping the download button on an iPhone or iPad opened it in a read-only preview instead of saving it, although the same document downloaded successfully on Android and in a desktop browser. Generated documents now download on iOS and are saved under their own filename. Downloads have been verified across PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CSV, text, ZIP, XML, image and video files.
  • Menu links configured to open in a new window now work.
A menu link with its target set to "New Window" did nothing when tapped in the iOS app, while the identical configuration opened correctly on Android. The app now handles these links and opens them in place, so menu navigation is consistent across both platforms.

Android

  • Fixed the app closing unexpectedly when downloading a generated document.
Documents created inside a form, rather than uploaded and stored on the server, are delivered directly by the browser instead of from a web address. The app could not process that kind of download and closed itself part-way through while the same document downloaded normally in desktop and mobile browsers. These documents are now handled correctly and saved to the device.
  • Upload fields now offer the same options as a web browser, including video recording.
When opened in a browser, an upload field lets a user record a video with the device camera or pick an existing one from the gallery. In the mobile app, only a file picker appeared, and the camera captured still images only, so forms designed around video capture could not be completed on a mobile device. The app now checks which file types the field accepts and offers the camera, the camcorder, or both accordingly. Where a field is restricted to video, only the camcorder and file picker are shown. Multiple file uploads have also been verified.
  • Fixed the upload error when selecting a file from Google Drive.
Uploading a document such as a .docx, .xlsx or .pptx by choosing it from Google Drive failed with a server error, while the same file with the same name uploaded successfully from the device’s own Downloads folder. Files can now be uploaded from either source, and the original filename and extension are preserved. Verified across PDF, Office, CSV, text, archive, image, and video files.
  • The app now requests permission to access device location.
Apps that use location in a form with a map field, for example, could obtain a position in a standard browser but not inside the Joget Workflow Mobile app, because the app never asked for location access. A permission prompt now appears after signing in, where the user can choose Precise or Approximate. Users who decline are unaffected in apps that do not use location.

Platform and publishing updates

  • Android: the app now targets Android 16 (API level 36).
Google Play will no longer accept updates for apps targeting an API level more than one year behind the latest Android release, effective 31 August 2026. The app previously targeted Android 15 (API level 35). Targeting API level 36 keeps it eligible for future Play Store updates. Supported Android versions for end users are unchanged.
  • iOS: the app is now built against Apple’s current iOS SDK.
Apple requires new App Store submissions to be built with its current SDK and a recent version of Xcode. The iOS build has been updated accordingly, which also raises the app’s minimum deployment target to iOS 16 and moves it to Swift 5.10.
